Alyce Kills: A Death Quickie

ALYCE KILLS:  2011: Horror:  After my short hiatus, I thought I should come back with a sufficiently gory, serial killer, horror movie that had some scenes that were memorable to say the least.

As many of you know, I am as interested in dreams and manipulating them as I am in horror movies.  In a way I combined the two to attempt to control nightmares by inducing lucid dreams..Well...that brought upon some bad consequences and at one point the inability to stop having lucid dreams..

While I have been "away" attending to other relevant matters in my life, I have still been watching horror movies and have quite the back log to catch up on.  I'm happy to say that the lucid nightmares have ceased, or at least let up considerably.  Part of this was due to focusing on breathing and other techniques before drifting off into REM.  Also, some nootropics which I will be happy to discuss in another post helped me out quite a bit..

It dawned on me that the point of dreaming IS to lose total control. Who wants to bring in all their real life worries and apprehensions in the dream state, which is what usually happens in lucid dreams? It's supposed to be a release. Not an extension to a horror movie and certainly not an exercise in mental stamina.  Anyway, I digress.

Too much mental activity during sleep defeats the purpose.

Alyce Kills wasn't a particularly great movie, but it did have it's moments, particularly when the main female role, played by Tamara Feldman, completely loses it and goes on a total killing rampage.  I enjoyed her performance and she fit the role exceedingly well.  She seemed so innocent.  At times she even admits to murdering people but others just laugh it off because she seems so harmless.

Could she kill anyone?  You bet..

It is short lived, but well worth it.  This movie demonstrates that you don't have to make a movie 2 1/2 hours to make it a good one. Sometimes short and sweet can be great!

So much killing, so little time!

There wasn't much substance to the plot and the movie just ramps up after one the main character's friend dies accidentally.  After that the movie just turns into an exercise in gore and gratuitous violence.  Not that there is anything wrong with that..

What a relief...

Intersperse some sex and scenes of drug use, and you have a pretty entertaining, albeit choppy horror/ serial killer movie.  It doesn't demand a great deal of interpretation, which was good if you have been burned out in over-analyzing movies.  For me it was a breath of fresh air to just watch a movie and it's participants unravel.  I enjoyed watching the main character dive deep into darkness.

Nothing like the smell of blood in the morning.

So if you want to take a break from all the holiday shopping and incessant commercials urging you to buy buy buy and consume this is a welcomed respite.  My favorite parts were at the funeral, when she uses the blender and when she attacks the drug dealer and his friends.  That's the way to get back!

Nothing like a good smoke after a good...well you get the picture..

That isn't a smoothie is it?

I definitely like movies that have a strong female character and this movie epitomizes this.  Last but not least, the scene where her friend's ex boyfriend comes over and gets eviscerated was so over the top it was almost comical..almost..I'm not a sadist here you know!

Don't cry, just pick up your intestines and put them back in!  Done and Done!

So get back in the swing of things and watch this short but sweet gory-quickie and enjoy!:  79%
